The xB is sort of good on gas. The new ones r larger & have larger engines, but they still get pretty good mileage as the engines still r not super huge. It gets just shy of 30 hwy. It gets lower mileage than most cars it is competing against, but it is slightly larger than most of it is competition (Toyota Matrix, Saturn Astra, Toyota Fit, etc)

They cost about the same as a Honda Fit or Corola (which it is based on). People who own them really love 'em.

Not my cup of tea.I'd rather have a Mazda 3 Hatchback, but I've always thought the xB is were ugly.but some people think bulldogs r cute, so who am l to judge?

the box looking ones are the xB. the 2008 model are not really box looking. they're okay. it runs about $15,000-$18,000. you should look it up.

the box shape is the xb, it should have good mileage , it has the same exact engine as the current toyota camry because toyota makes scion. they are not super expensive, check out scion.com and find the price

toyota engines generally get good mileage for their size and class, and scion was intended to be the opposite of lexus - something like a lower-income class brand, so they're not expensive at all.

below is a link to the cnn is top pic new car mpg.

If your looking used, look at the 2008 honda fit too. Toyota is name is too inflated in terms of out-of-the-factory quality (ie they're slipping up on new cars).

l actually own a ''box shaped one.'' It is a 2006 XB automatic, and it gets pretty good gas mileage. l average 25-28 mpg around town, and low 30s on the highway. Brand new and loaded, l got mine for just a bit over $15000. Unfortunately, the XB has been redesigned for 2008. The new XB is larger, rounder, and more expensive.

2007 and older models are great on gas and inexpensive.
the new models cost more and are worse on gas

older model has a harsh ride though, stiff suspension and is loud.
newer model rides better and is quieter.costs more though :(
