Hey, well l ran into an article a while back about a ''drift'' Scion TC. So l just wanted to know how they did it and if there is a RWD conversion kit out there. l like the Scion TC for a starter project car and l definitely plan to make mods to my TC. So l would just like some info about this whole RWD TC thing.

If u have the money u can do anything u like. l have heard of no rear wheel conversions. Remember if u take off the front wheel drive u have to convert the front end also, to have spindles for the front wheels. The CV is also r the spindle for the wheels & brakes.
A V8 would be a tight squeeze into the engine compartment but there r some V6 is out there that might would fit if u were to put electric fans on the radiator. Really l would go with a V8 though, for the amount of trouble u would have to go through, something like the 4.6L ford OHC.
For ODB2 specs l think conversions have to be kept within the same vehicle make such as a Toyota V8 & the V8 would have to be newer than the Scion u r putting it into. That would still be crazy unbelievable, a Toyota V8 with a turbo & 6 speed manual tranny..

It has to be RWD to drift (its called sliding in a FWD). l doubt there is a kit for that since its pretty much rebuilding the entire car.

You would be much better off starting with something RWD. It would save thousands of hours of work and thousands of dollars.

l actually read the same article, & if l recall correctly the driver is ken gushi. but anyways, they took a platform of another car that is only available in japan. the scion tc had a similar platform, & the other car (i forgot what the car was called) had an awd or 4wd drive-train. either that, or there were 2 cars, l can not remember. but anyways, since the tc shared the same platform as those other cars, they just moved some of the components of the 4wd & rwd car onto the tc making it rwd.

unfortunately, there is no conversion kit out there. most of the parts put into that car were modified in some way, even the engine was not a distinct type, it was heavily modified & built by a private company. l really hope that one day scion puts out a rwd tc cuz that would be just killer, but as of now there r no plans to do so.

if u want to start modding ur car, l suggest that u start with the basics (suspension, wheels, some engine modifications, short shifter, etc). those mod is r simple & easy to do.

EDIT: found the article, posted the link below.

They designed their own chassis, suspension, and drivetrain to make it RWD.

The only parts of the Drift Scion that is from a real Scion are the engine and body.
