Basically they are automatic with +/- shifter. Basically they are automatics with manual shift mode.

basically, it lets you change gears on the car when you want, thereby giving you more control over the car which in turn if used correctly can help with acceleration. there are probably only 4 or 5 gears that you can shift into.
