Theres a big hold on my plans to add power to my 2008 scion tc l would like to add a turbo to my scion but from what l hears the engine will not be able to take the stress of the power and most likely blow up the enging..... can l get any help with that or should it be a better idea to just go with a supercharger from trd.....?

who told u that? no, the problem is that in the tc the oil pressure is really high so it can blow off the seals on the turbo, but thats only for super high levels of psi (like 15+). to prevent this, u can put in an oil restrictor which lowers the amount of pressure going into the turbo. there r premade turbo kits out there that r made to run on ur stock engine, without any work having to be done to the actual engine. the only time it would blow ur engine would be if u turn the psi past 10. the tc is engine can withstand up to 350 hp on stock internals, meaning ur engine can handle that much power without having to do any work on the engine basically. the bolt on turbo kits r set at a safe 8 psi which produce way less than 300hp, usually in hte mid to high 200 is so you're engine is safe.

depending on what kit u get, u may have to upgrade different parts of ur car. ex, if u get a dezod kit u would need to upgrade ur clutch due to the kit being made to work with an upgraded clutch. turbonetics kit is meant to work with the stock parts of the tc, so getting that kit would be much easier to install & u get the best whp gains out of all the bolt on kits from the box. it all depends on how much u want to spend, actually. supercharger is a waste of money, turboing it will give u more bang for ur buck. the supercharger that was made for the tc is not even that great, gains r minimal & the whole thing costs a buttload. seriously, get a turbo kit, install it yourself, u get over twice the amount of whp gain & torque than the supercharger. plus, when u shift gears u get that cool ''psssh'' sound :) & btw, its the superchargers that r more common in blowing up lol, not so much the turbos.

but a word of warning: if u put on the turbo u void ur warrenty from toyota. just fyi. look at the site l put, go to the engine forum & read about it. l also posted a site that has some pretty good prices for the turbo kits for the tc.

v v to what that guy said, there.are no turbo kits that sell for $3000 unless u piece together ur own or u buy it off of ebay.which is a bad idea. ebay turbo kits will break & ruin ur engine. also, for $3000 if u piece together ur own kit, u can still get more hp than the supercharger.

Scion Supercharger will not void all warranties and is MADE for Scion TC. Any turbo that cost 3000.00 installed with warranty will get less power and more repairs as well as more mods.

it accelerates good already but if you must want more power, get the supercharger please

no known carb legal turbo chargers..trd supercharger is..super charger is for quicker acceleration while turbo is for more torque and power on high end..you could do what that one guy on the superstreet mag did..add a turbo and a super charger.his did not blow up..and yours should not to if you biuld everything right..

only thing he missed is for that ''cool pssshh'' sound you need to buy a BOV(blow off valve) they run from 80-200 dollars and arent included in most kits. In your scenario though like he said l would recommend a Turbonetics kit. awesome customer service and 12 month warranty and designed for stock parts. Also l agree with him, Turbo>Supercharger for tc
