I am looking to purchase a new tC and was wondering what performance upgrades would be beneficial to the car. Hopefully I will be making the purchase right when the 09 model rolls around with the following:

TRD Shocks Kit-$525
TRD Lowering Springs Kit-$199
TRD Quick Shifter-$335
TRD Sport Muffler-$525

Comments? Are these upgrades a good idea?
Thanks for all the responses. I am going to stick with the TRD parts because l know nothing about cars or how the warranty gets voided. I am pretty sure a stock tC would work fine for me, but l thought l would add some performance parts just to have fun.

Do you have an idea of how much l can haggle on the upgrades?

Also, l have no credit and can pay off the entire car and upgrades in cash. Is it a good idea to finance and just pay off when the first payment is due?

Hi..my advice to u is not buy any TRD product.please!!
dealer charge so much money for those things..and they r not even the best performing.

Buy after market things rather then from dealer.
TRD Muffler is not really throaty if that is what u r looking for.buy HKS Hi-Power Exhaust or Catback for 5-9HP gain, which will cost u from 200-400.

Lowering Springs.get teins, H&R, or Megan racing from like 100-300.which r better than TRD!!
Shocks & quick shifter..well their r bunch of them.just search
oh if u r still interested in TRD stuff here is the link where u could buy TRD stuff for cheap :)

The TRD parts r a great idea if u r looking for a complete package. They have been tested together & tuned to work specifically with the Scion tC in ways that springs from random a manufacturer have not been tuned to work with shocks from another manufacturer.

Ordering ur tC from a Toyota port operation with those parts installed is probably the best route to go mainly since they r installed by Toyota employees who do the same procedure every day.

Another benefit of buying the TRD parts with the car, no matter of where they r installed, is that u can finance the cost of the parts into the car & not have to pay $1500 out of pocket outside of the purchase of the vehicle. That is the best thing l like about the Scion business model.

And by the way, the 2009 model is already out as the model life cycle is slowly closing for the current tC.

The 09 is rolled out last month. Nice choice of mods they will definitely make a big improvement on the car. When l purchased my car in February l found that Scion wont negotiate on the price of the car but you can negotiate on the price of the upgrades and performance TRD parts.

Owner of an 08 tC with a lot of mods. Listen to me & JJ. Do not go TRD!!! For the price u pay. u can get so much more stuff with that money. TRD is just advanced stock parts. The TRD muffler is ricey & high pitched at best. l have Magnaflow on mine & love the deep sound l get. Injen makes an awesome cold air intake. As for lowering. look into Eibach or Tien. Do yuor research before u dedcide on TRD or turd as l call it lol. Check out scionlife.com & ask people there what they think. Trust me, u will be happy in the end. Put the time & effort into looking around & comparing prices, & not only will u save $ but have more hp & torqe if u look outside the dealers death trap. l mean TRD. Message me if u want more info. Peace =)

Yeah if you dont know anything about cars just go with TRD stuff because of the warranty. They could tell you some BS like muffler vibrations affected your A/C so it wont be covered by warranty. And you wouldnt know its wrong.
