is the TRD supercharger good quality? is it even worth buying? l really love the scion if only it was a little stronger.also, supercharger does not affect fuel economy, correct? and finally, is it a noticable difference in power with the supercharger?

l actually test drove a Scion TC with the TRD supercharger installed when l was looking for cars last year, & it makes a noticeable difference in acceleration over the regular TC. l think it adds about 40hp IIRC.

As far as quality of the supercharger etc., l would guess since Toyota engineered it themselves (and since l am pretty sure it does not void the warranty when installed by Toyota) it is at least as high of quality a supercharger as any you'd buy aftermarket.

Do not be surprised to see ur fuel economy drop though. The supercharger uses engine torque to drive the supercharger, creating more drag on the engine than without it. That & it takes gasoline to make more power, so with 40 more HP u will be using more fuel. You might also want to look into getting a limited slip differential installed at the same time as the supercharger too - the car l drove did not have an LSD so it spun the inside tire pretty easily when trying to accelerate out of turns with any ''urgency''.

It adds 68 lbs of torque and 65 hp. It is high quality and makes a big difference. 3/10 of second 0-60 and 4/10 faster in 1/4 mile. If you get cold air intake and Borla exhaust with freeflw converter and use all synthetic fluids also you will gain 50 hp and 35 lb is of torque more .So 275hp and 250+ lb is of torque in small car will be fast and get BETTER mpg. For less then 4000.00 you have a great performaing car. At 21000 +++ you cannot beat price for what car is.

It makes about 200 hp & 185 lb-ft of torque. Thats an increase of about 40 hp & 25 lb-ft of torque. Its a noticeable difference above 3,000 RPM but makes no difference below that. It will lower ur mileage. A supercharger is a pump. It puts more air into ur engine so u need more fuel also. Expect to lose about 3 mpg.

Its also not a Toyota designed part. They just rebranded it with a TRD badge (just like the TRD CA l which was made by AEM). Its designed & built by a company called Vortech with some input from Toyota. The 05-07 ones r horribly under designed. The mounting brackets r far too small (even on the redesigned ones). In about 20-30k miles ur bracket will break & it will destroy the compressor bearings.
