I am buying a used car and I've had my eye on A 2005 Scion TC and a 2007 Scion TC...

l was just wondering if..
-They're fast?
-Are they safe?
-Are they durable?

They are made by Toyota, so a TC would be reliable, and fairly safe. But you would have to get one with a supercharger in it for it to be fast.

Again, made by Toyota.so they r known for their dependability & rated fairly high on the safety scale. l bought a 2007 manual tC new about 9 months ago & l do love it, but it is not as fast as l thought it would be stock. A TRD supercharger is the only way to go if you're looking for fastness.plus many other upgrades. l love my Scion & l am definately glad l made the choice of buying it, but l do see myself selling it in a year or two for an SUV instead.only because l plan on having children & a 2 door is not ideal for that purpose. But l am having my fun while l still can.

For the money & standard options they r fast, safe, & reliable. They r a Topyota & use the Camry engine. It has 165 lb is of torque which will get a car that size up & going. Do not be fooled by cars that atre 190 hp but have 140 lb is of torque as they r going to be slower then a car with 120 hp & 165 lb is of torque. Hp gets u to ur top speed which is governed & both cars will stop at 120MPH. High resale & good looking. Can get a Scio Supercharger too with cold air induction which can not be finance withj car but have to be dealer installed. 3,300 extra installed. So for 21000.00 u will have a car with 275 hp & 265 lb is of torque. Shorty headerts will increase torque 15 lb's. Also using all synthetic fluids will give u 15 to 30 HP extra reducing friction.

For an inexpensive car l find it to be quick from a stop & handles what l need in city & highway traffic. Why did l buy it? best small car under $20K, cool features (roof & Ipod integration as a great option) Camry reliability for the engine, it is safe, & it is great-looking. l love that it is a hatchback too-you would not believe how much it can hold when u need to fill it up with stuff. Biggest complaints on the site r rattles & paint. l had my rattles fixed at the dealer though, & the paint still looks good. The seats stain easily but l got seat covers. Other than that, it drives great, is always reliable, & it is really cool!
I'd get the 2007 over the 2005, since they've had a couple years to get the kinks & problems out. 2005 was the launch year & it is not a great idea to get the debut-model year car. l have an 06.

l have an 08 tC & l love it!!! As mentioned, it has looks, great gas mileage, power, features that no other car in its class has standard & a great price. Yes, there r better cars out there. for a higher price. The tC is the best of the best, for $17,000. It will kill any ricer (not Si) civic, cobalt, tibouron & ion. It has features like: Driver knee airbags, tire pressure monitors, sunroof with passenger viewing, reclining back seats, side curtain airbags, rims, standard Ipod connectivity, standard 6 inch, 160W pioneer sound system that u wo not find standard on any other car. As for reliability, it is a toyota, do l really need to elaborate?? lol. The tC is very very peppy for 161 horses & has a lot of pull in second gear. If u want speed, look into a greddy turbo, for the same price as the TRD supercharger POS u can get an extra 60 horses out of it. Pushing it close to 300 hp. Gas mileage wise, the WORSE I've gotten was 21 & that was getting on the throttle every start. Best, I've hit 31 on freeway. So l love when douche bags like Big Carp bag on Scions. Do me a favor. Enjoy ur 1991 Geo & please stop breathing my air. Or maybe he owns a mustang. great way to blend into the other 296,482 others in ur trailer park alone.

l highly recommend the tC because THERE IS NO BETTER CAR OUT THERE FOR $17,000. Simple, hands down.

Yes. They are pretty fast cars, and they are very safe, reliable, and durable as well. Toyotas are very reliable vehicles.

They are not fast at all, but since it is a Toyota product, it safe and reliable.

In reality, it is a pretty bland ride. l drove one for a few weeks(both auto and manual), and it was figuratively, a dead-lay.

Out of the three variables list above, l think durable would apply.

A better bet would be the new Smart Car from Mercedes Benz.

Its not fast. You wo not be outrunning too many cars on the road but u will keep up with them.

Seems safe but Ive never wrecked it. You can look up the crash ratings online.

Mine has been full of problems since about 30k miles. Cracked 2 radiators & 1 broken supercharger. Its got 64k miles on it now & the new supercharger is going out.

Top Gun - Synthetic oils wo not get u anywhere near 15-30 extra hp. Try 1.5-3 hp. The S/C will get u 200 hp & 185 lb-ft of torque. Header & catback exhaust will get u 10-15 hp total but not without both of them.
