A lot-- l think the engine has to come off its mounts & the transmission uncoupled for all that. But a question: WHERE IS THE WARRANTy?? THIS CAR'S ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD AT THE MOST, & nobody puts heavy highway miles on a scion.

First, check the warranty status--you may have to go to the District Manager but try. Failing that & if a lawyer tells u no go, ask the Service Manager if there is a ''service bulletin'' out on ur year & model. It is like a recall, but u have to ask for it & the Serv.Mgr. has to show it to you, by law.

warranty does not cover wear & tear items like a clutch.
but hey! if u kick & screem enough at ur dealer they just might cut u a break. l see it all the time at work. depends on ur mileage though. if u have 75K miles. l do not think they will do it. but if u have like around 30K. u might. hopefully u have been going there for EVERY scheduled service. the improves ur chance.

labor time to change a clutch l believe is 6-8 hours (not 100% sure) plus parts.

l was once quoted at 600.00 in labor and you can buy your own clutch at a cheaper than dealership cost. They drop the engine cradle down and pull the transmission out in this fashion so it is not to terrable.
