iv been googling for hours to mixed results so here my delimma. l have a 2008 scion tc and my goals are to increase power, get a deeper louder sound, and possibly a small mpg improvement. l was looking at injen and magnaflow exhausts but leaning toward the injen. what kind of improvements will ACTUALLY l see? Do exhausts make mpg worse? also l know cold air intakes dont do much for new cars but l need a final answer about thier preformance from a scion person. Money is tight so l cannot afford both. Tell me everything you know please. l gotta ask for it for a xmas present :D

Get the injen intake. It will help u the most. l do not care what the companies claim u get for power. You might get 5-7 hp out of it tops, but ur car will breathe better making it more responsive, fuel will lean slightely so u ll have more power, & u ll increase fuel mileage. The exhaust would help too, but the common problem is, once u have a loud exhaust, u wanna hear it, so u ll find yourself pressin that gas pedal more, lol but if u can keep ur foot outta it, it has its rewards. Enjoy!

cold air intake is usually a good idea for any car now a days. k&n is usually the one to go with.usually good mpg gains and some hp gains.
exhaust for these cars is more for sound than for actual performance, but small hp increase can usually be gained.

if you go with any of these, make sure they are brand name.
k&n, borla, injen, aem..something like that.your engine is the last place to skimp on costs or no name brands

I'd go with the intake first also. l like k&n more than injen, but both are good brands.

catback exhaust will raise up ur hp & whp/torque while lowering ur gas mileage. its not a significant amount, but it will lower the gas mileage. replacing the stock exhaust is better for the car in terms of hp gains since there is a wider tube so more exhaust fumes can leave the car faster, thus creating more hp.

the intake does not do anything for you, really. it is more for cosmetics if anything else. go with whatever u want, the sound will be similar (but not the same for each intake)

in all honesty, u will see more hp & whp/torque gains from a complete catback exhaust system - which is what l would recommend u get first/ask for ur xmas present. it increases ur hp & makes ur car sound better. u could get a cold air intake, but it wo not really help u at all. it does not really even do anything for ur car, in my opinion l think that its a waste of money.
