l have a 2006 scion tc which l love dearly...l know nothing about cars or car repair but I am desperate! In order to fix this I am gonna have to do it myself. The dealer quoted almost 400 dollars to fix it and l just do not have the money... Is this a hard repair? If l buy the manual and the part will l even be able to fix this problem? Please help.

you might want to check out scionlife.com or clubsciontc.com for more info. not sure if its too hard but i'm pretty sure you can do it your self with proper tools. just search those sites for DIY guides on the o2 sensors. which one is broken by the way and how is it broken?

Changing an oxygen sensor is about as complicated as changing a sparkplug. You need a socket wrench & a special O2 sensor socket & maybe some WD40 if the sensor does not want to break loose. The O2 sensor socket looks like a regular sparkplug socket with a slit up the side to fit around the wires. You can pick one up at just about any auto parts store for about ten bucks.

It seems odd to me that an oxygen sensor would fail within three years. Are u sure that is the problem? It may also just be a loose wire. Also make sure the tC just has a single sensor, or if it has multiple sensors u identify which one is bad. AutoZone will read error codes for free.
