05 tc. l heard it gears out at 127mph. in my area with 5'' of snow packed on the road, l put it in 5th gear and floored it and the speed needle reached 140mph at about 6200rpms

is this just some trick or will this car actually hit 140? not that im gonna test this or anything.
but for some reason, it wouldnt bounce off redline like it does in 1st-4th. after holding it at 6200rpms for about 1.5 seconds, it just cut off.

remember im just spinning tires in the snow
so if it only does 127, then how did the needle hit 140 when l was spinning in the snow?

it has been dyno'd for 5 speeds to about 127 & auto is at around 130. & no, the car will not actually hit 140 mph even though it says it will. dyno is r the most accurate & reliable way to find a car is whp & top speed.

the reason the auto is top speed is higher than the 5 speed is because auto is have longer gears, & because of this the auto tc can hold a higher top end speed. the 5 speed manual, however, has the better acceleration because the gears r shorter.

TC will go 125 and that is it unless you reprogram computer. Were you looking at KM is instead? No TC will go 140 stock or even close. It is impossible.

l hit 115ish with my stock 06 tC manual before.

The car has a speed limiter at 130mph.
But it should only reach 127mph. That sounds right for 160HP.

When the tires spin in the snow, the speedometer cannot read accurately.

If you accelerate very fast, the speedometer might go up to 60mph, when you did not really get to 60mph yet. This happens when the tires spin out when accelerating fast.

This is completely controlled by the ecu. 127mph is the cut off speed. How ever the car can go faster than that, but not much and to be honest it is not safe. Plus the TC is not meant to go at those speeds.
