i'm thinking about getting a Scion tC and I am taking the next semester off from school and l wanna work and buy myself a car. l really want a Subaru Wrx Sti (my dream car) but the ones l looked at around $21K and the tC are around $14K. Kind of like the Cadillac Commercial, l wanna know when you turn your tC on does it return the favor?

the WRX would be a nice car to get.i can tell you one thing.insurance will kill you and either car

tC is pretty nice, peppy, not too bad on gas.i love the panoramic moon roof.really nice touch.kinda bumpy on road.i'd say for the money, it is a great car that you can not go wrong with

check out scionlife.com if you wanna talk to others with scions

l owned a 2008 Scion TC & was anything but impressed. l purchased an 08 automatic with some extra features (pedastal spoiler, fog lights, sports package). While yes it has decent enough room to haul stuff in. Carting around friends & other passengers was very annoying because its only a 2 door, even getting groceries was bad because u had to put them in the back seat which involved moving the seat and/or using the hatch & hoping things didnt roll around. Also l am about 5'11 & it seemed cramped.

The gas mileage was awful & l am a fairly conservative driver, there was problems with the radiator 2k miles in which was a $650 repair, the windshield seal was bad & shattered while l was driving it (somehow l was not injured), mine was blue, & the paint was chipping everywhere. l couldnt figure out why, finally l looked at it underneath a fluorescent light, the acrylic was peeling everywhere, no strange washing behaviours, just ur basic car washes, they told me it was ''my driving style''. l called the dealer & instead of making any attempt to fix it, they gave me a number where l could get a 3k paint job to fix the problem. If u google that issue, u will see it is pretty standard across the board.

The seats seemed pretty cheap in the back, the lining of the upholstery was off & moved very easily. The wheels scuff VERY easily & r very expensive to fix.

l regret ever buying that car because now l owe a lot more on my new car, a Mazda 3, which l absolutely LOVE. Dont make my mistake, dont buy the Tc. 3 of my co workers had them too only one of them drives it now. If u go to a used car lot u see relatively new Tc is everywhere because of all the issues.

Also, if u live somewhere where it snows, they r a deathtrap even with all season tires. Very low ground clearance & they slip & slide everywhere.

My Mom has a Subaru & loves it, has had no problems in 4 years.

Well l own an '08 tC & have had no trouble with it. It is a fun car to drive, & l get great mileage (it is a stick shift). A lot of people complain about the tires in the winter, but l live l Detroit & my car is going into its second winter, I've had no problems driving on the ice, granted a Subaru would be better for it, but remember that 4x0=0 so if u lose grip in all ur tires, you're going in the ditch like all the SUV is that u see flying past on the highway.
l paid 20K even for my car including taxes & have not had any issues. the trunk is a little small, but it can fit all of my grocery needs or a couple of large duffel bags. there r times when l miss having a four door car for the easy access to the back, but I've adjusted. l am 6'2'' & l would not recommend anyone much taller driving the car, my hair will occasionally brush the roof, but l have plenty of room every other way. l like my car, but l recommend test driving a lot of cars.

The tC is a great car period. The fact that its cheap is an extra bonus. Scions r good quality cars that r backed by toyota grade parts. Some people rag on them because of the price, but the reason the price is so low is because they designed it exactly for what college kids need. Iv had mine 8 months & l really cant complain about anything. The engine is more than u need & it handles like a dream. that subaru is gunna run u way more than 21k. If u have ur heart set on a subaru then do that they r great cars but l promise u wont be dissappointed. New tcs r approximatly 18k. If ur interested in customizing then l dont think thiers a better choice than the tc, thier r so many things available. Get one u wont be sorry!

The scion tc is are good cars and reliable. In my opinion l would not take off a semester just for a car since of the economy as it is and considering gas is going to jump back up, If l were you stay in school for now until you get settled with a career to help you get the real dream car you want.

Who is this guy that keeps saying that his Scion tc was a pile? l do not know a single person who has had problems with their Scions. You r the only one..period.

l beat mine quite hard every day. l have a manual & l average about 25 to 29mpg with about 30% highway & 70% city driving. This of couse goes down in the winter with the deep cold, snow, & ice on the roads.(about 20 to 25mpg)

l have driven both the Automatic & Manual. If u want the car to return the favor get the manual. It wont let u down.

As for performance.
this 4 banger has a good amount of low end tourque. (about 160fp)
It has a little to much roll when cornering fast. It does help to get the larger wheels though.
Otherwise..Over all..Great car..Great price..Good performance

l own a 08 scion tc & l love it! if u check out the websites or even ask around on myspace with people that have scions they will all tell u that they love them. l have never heard of any ones car having issues right at the beginning (maybe it was his driving). lol. Having a scion is not just having a car it also has a lot of positive things like car shows just for scions & car clubs just for scions & a lot of different things for example l live in southern cali & every year knotts scary farm gives scion owners free tickets! & before that we have a car show & they give away stuff have food & dee jay playing! the whole works! its great being a scion tc owner!!!!

I've had my tC for 3 years and love it! Won a few trophies at shows, including Best of Show! Have not had any problems with mine and still am getting 28 miles/gal. Best part about owning a tC other than the fact it is backed by a quality manufacturer (Toyota), is the awesome Scion community! Lots of great owners and Scion puts on so many events and gives back so much to their customers.

0-60mph for the Scion tC is 7.4 seconds. The same for the Mazda 3 s.
It is not as fast as a CIvic Si, VW GTI, or Sentra SE-R.

But it is fun to drive and reliable.
The resale value is low and the insurance is actually higher than the insurance of an ST l because most drivers for the Scion tC are teenagers and insurance companies know that so the insurance is extremely high.
