Okay so me and my boyfriend got into an argument about Scions.
Are they Toyota brand or in their own separate company?
Also, do they have a Toyota symbol or a scion symbol on the exterior?
See, he says that they are their own separate brand, and can just be purchased at Toyota dealerships. My friend and l swear that we saw one with the Toyota symbol on the back of it (l know the two symbols look similar but l swear it was Toyota). So l find it to be considered a ''Toyota Scion'' while says it is technically not a Toyota. This is seriously a stupid argument but somebody needs to please clear this up for us!! Help! lol

Scion is 100% part of Toyota. Think of it like Saturn and GM. But they do have their own symbols

they are a seperate brand. like chevrolet and pontiac. you can buy them at the same dealer, and they're made by the same company but they're different brands.

Scion is a subsidry of Toyota but you probably wont see a toyota symbol unless you look at the windows on thee side where they have some info or if somebody moded it. So to answer your question toyota owns scion but somebody probably bought the emblem and switched

Scion is owned by Toyota, that is why you can buy new scions at toyota dealers. It is not like scion is a model of toyota, they are separate brands, but scion is not independent of toyota. it is kinda like mazda, volvo, lincoln, and mercury are all owned by ford but are not the same name.

They r there own separate brand that is owned by Toyota & uses Toyota parts.
Scion is a car company.

It is not called a Toyota Scion.
Toyota is a make.
Celica is a model.
Scion is a make.
tC is a model.
The Scion tC uses lots of parts from the 2003 Toyota Celica.

Just like how Toyota owns Lexus & Honda owns Acura.
You do NOT say Toyota Lexus IS300 or Honda Acura RSX.

Some people put Honda symbols on Chevy's.
And some people put Toyota symbols in Scions.
My friend is doing that with his Scion tC.

alright, i'm only answering this because once again C7S is giving out WRONG information.

to first answer ur question: toyota owns scion, however scion is its own brand. it has its own cars, own logo, own division. however, the parent company is toyota. so the car u saw was a scion tc, owned by scion. somebody could have put a toyota emblem on the tc, but it is not a toyota - it is a scion.

second, the tc does NOT use many parts from the toyota celica. if anything, all it uses r the brakes & maybe some of the suspension. however, the tc was made on its own, not as a car to take over the celica name. celica is r celica is & tc is r tc's. they r NOT related. the tc was built on a platform on a car that is only availabe in europe. that platform, however, is NOT A CELICA. just wanted to let u know the truth.

Scion is a separate marque or ''brand'' that is owned by Toyota Motor Sales in the United States (which itself a subsidiary of Toyota, Japan).

Scions r sold in a separate ''Scion'' section at select Toyota dealers.

The external markings that come on Scions from the factory r all Scion markings, but many of the individual parts (motor parts, windows, etc.) carry Toyota markings just as many Chevy parts would carry General Motors marks because Chevrolet is owned by General Motors.

SOME of the Scion models r sold as Toyotas in countries other than the United States, & especially on those Scion models it is common for owners to change the factory supplied Scion markings for Toyota markings.

The Scion brand (as of today) is sold new ONLY in the United States.

Here r some of the related models from the US Scion line & the Japanese Toyota domestic market:

2004-06 Scion xA - Toyota ist
2004-06 Scion xB - Toyota bB
2008-09 Scion xB - Toyota Camry Rumion
2008-09 Scion xD - Toyota ist
All Scion tC - US Only Model

Scion is a sub brand of Toyota, just like Lexus. Both Scion & Lexus r owned, designed & manufactured by Toyota but they both have their own insignia/badge. In both the cars there r parts used with Toyota printed on them. As a matter of fact, if u open the hood of Scion tC, u will see the engine cover has Toyota is symbol on it staring right at you. :) Pretty much every mechanical parts that the car has has Toyota written over it. The chances of seeing Toyota symbol on a Scion r pretty slim, unless of course the owner changed it. l have seen Acura owners replacing their badges with Honda & vice versa.

So long story short, Scion is not a separate company, it is registered trade mark of Toyota.

It is a Toyota as Lexus is. They will never have a toyota symbol on them though.
