l feel the tC is a more customizable, traditional car, but the xD is rarer on the streets and has 4 doors instead of just two.

Sorry Maxx, but the only american manufacturer l like is Chevy and Dodge. Dodge vehicles are too big for me and Chevy needs to facelife the Cobalt already.>.< Scion fits just right.

If you are an American citizen BOTH are bad. Scion is built in Japan & shipped to the USA doing Nothing to help Manufacturing jobs in the USA. If we are ever going to get our economy on track we are going to have to start supporting American manufacturing again.

It all depends on what u want to do with the car & which one u feel more comfortable with. l own an '08 TC & have driven an '09 XD. l prefer the TC myself, since it is more of a nimble car & is quite a bit sportier, the seating position in the XD is rather straight up for me & the shifting lever is not the most comfortable, but that is my taste.
l will agree with u when it comes to Maxxdogs answer though, l will buy American when American car companies make something that l would actually want to invest in. The cobalt had nothing redeeming & dodge does not make cars with manual transmissions.

Both Toyota Motor Corporation is Scion xD & Scion tC r excellent choices.

Both r on Consumer Reports' 2009 Most-Reliable list.

However, the Scion xD hatchback offers greater versatility. The extra cargo carrying capacity will likely be appreciated many times on many occasions.

There r alternatives to the Scion xD. You may wish to consider the Toyota Yaris (now a 4-door hatchback) & the Honda Fit. Both the Yaris & the Fit r on Consumer Reports' 2009 Most-Reliable list as well.

The Toyota Yaris - & its less interiorly refined predecessor, the Toyota Echo - have been around long enough to have accumulated additional distinctions. Here r some of the distinctions:
