Okay my buddy decided to go with a turbocharger system for his 2008 Scion tC.Now he wants to know which would be better. Buying a complete kit from a major company or buying it piece by piece (intercooler, BOV, piping etc.) Also he has and automatic tranny could he run a turbo kit with an auto?

Buy everything at 1 company so there is a guarantee thay they will all work.

yes auto trans will work but a trans cooler should be added for the extra heat that will be generated by extra pressure of more horsepower.and a kit is best ..all the bugs have been worked out.will save a bunch of money in the long run.

Buy the complete kit from a reputable company.

Mixing and matching parts from several companies will probably be cheaper but you will run into lots of problems trying to get them all to fit and work together properly. It could even cost you more because of the time and effort getting it to all work.

But a kit from a reputable company such as Greddy, Dezod or ZP l if you know someone selling their ZP l kit.

Tell your buddy, bad move getting the slush box (auto) though.

Buy from one company. Go with Greddy or Turbonetics. they make good kits adding 88hp (turbonetics) to 100 hp (greddy) at 8 psi. Yes he could install a turbo on a automatic, but as said above l would get a trans. cooler installed for it. A kit is the best because all the problems have been worked out, the ECU is already programmed perfectly, and all you really need to do is install it and drive it. have fun and tell your friend to enjoy his tC.
