Get a picture of his car and take it to baskin robbins. They can air-brush a photo on it with colouring. l do not think you could make an xb shaped cake unless it was made in sections.

Chelsey-

There r a couple of ways u could do this, but l would make a multiple layer cake to start with then cut them into the proper shapes then cement them together with frosting.

l would suggest that u make at least one practice run on that project & Wiltons Cake Decorating on the internet for a little help.

candylandcrafts.com

l have done several projects like this, but l can tell u that taking a few classes from a local Wilton is Instructor is definately beneficial.

l am a Model Railroader, & u can guess what that means.

So l have a few Box Car cakes & a couple of Locomotive cakes under my belt.

But the Xb should be a fairly easy project. l normally start with a picture of what l want to create, then l start baking the sheet cakes to be carved & formed into the shapes l need to build the object.

l would suggest that u used the pressed sugar wheels if u can find them & stick those to the outside of the cake. If u r unsure, u might have to locate a specialty cake shop in ur area.

Infact, that may even be a better route, is to have the bakery build the cake for u if u do not have the time, or u feel this project may be a little beyond ur skills.

l have done that myself if the project becomes too time consuming & l felt it was beyond my skills to complete & make look nice.

Just be sure that u have some photos of the car so the bakery can duplicate the pictures as close as possible. Besides, that should be a fairly inexpensive cake to design, plus they may already have received an order in the past for a similar request.

But if it were me l think l would use a standard chocolate or white cake for the layers, & take ur pick on the Butter Cream Frosting.

Anyhow, good luck.

Buy a cake, throw it away and give him the box it came in.
