As long as you do not do it too often and or too long. Redlining for a second is ok, but would not want to do it anymore. Just be careful of when to shift before you do more damage.

if you do it alot like alot often that is then there might be some but if you do it like once or 4 times then l dont think so besides if your not use to it l would think you shift to quick try to shift around 4,000

l am with vtx.1800retro. Those engines r overbuilt to start with, & they also have a rev limiter so that under acceleration u can not take the rpms too high. You r not going to hurt it by over-revving under load. You MIGHT incur some damage if u do it continuously without any load on it. But u have to be careful that u do not miss a shift slowing down, because there is no way to limit the RPM if u down shift too soon! Over-revving was more of a concern in the past when there were push rods, etc for the valves. With today is overhead cams, a lot of the curse is taken out. You have to REALLY over-rev to hurt them, and, again, the limiter takes care of that. But DON''T miss a downshift!

You are good, the rev limiter on a scion is set to 6500 rpm, so no harm done. They install turbo is on scions at zpi racing and rev them to 8000rpm, with stock internals.

l own a 07 scion tc. l redlined it just today untill it wouldnt go any farther. The computer drops the rpms and gives you a nice little lag so you cant really hurt the engine.

toyota makes scion..and toyotas have a sensor..which once a car is redlined for some time..the sensor tells the computer, and computer makes the transmission try to run a a lower rpm..

in hondas, there is no sensor like that..
