is it a good idea to buy a car that will be discountinued in a year? im planning on buying a scion XA.?

Yes it is a good Idea Especially a Scion reason one though the car is being discontinued there are many of them out there and the XA and XB share many of the same components so parts availability is not a problem. Reason two these cars are made by Toyota so that alone means higher resale value also dependability. So go right on ahead and purchase that car.

dont know why everybody just assumes that these piece of crap foreign cars r more dependable than an american product,its probably because they last longer, which isnt true there just bought by people who dont want to spend alot of money on a car, so they spend 10,000 for a car and have it for fricken ever, besides that its a foreign interest.

Just because they discontinue a car doesnt mean that you cant get parts for it anymore. l wouldnt let that make your decision for you.

l would not let somebody give me a Scion even if it came with $500 cash & a lifetime supply of gasoline, that being said, It depends on the car as to whether it is a good buy or not. l am sure once upon a time somebody asked if it was a good idea to buy a Hemi-Cuda because they were discontinueing them, The person who decided it was a good idea now has a million dollar muscle car & the person who passed it up is kicking himself very hard in the ass repeatedly. Although the person who bought the rampage has a gun to his head screaming WHY, it was supposed to be ''cool'' a Mopar-Mini-El-Camino WHY is my car worthless junk & the people who passed this one up r pointing & laughing As for parts availability, Federal Laws require manufactureres to have adequate supply of replacement parts for 10 years after the last year that model was made.

It is a Toyota, you should be fine. Get what you like, and do not worry about it,,, if you are buying it new then you will have a warranty. Good luck!

The new xB & xD will not share the same engine & chassis, but the Toyota Yaris still is.

Try to get 2006 model xA. Even Scion only sell at MSRP no more no less, but u can get 2006 model at $500 or more off MSRP for last year is model (I've seen ads, Bay Area).

l would suggest for u to wait for the xD, at less it got the better engine.

See the price u pay right now for a Scion xA u can get a similarly equipped Toyota Corolla, for more room, more engine.

it is a good idea to buy it, Scions are reliable cars and l would say about 80% of them wont break down within the next 12 years so.
