Get the diagnostic first and save yourself the some money. With the check engine, vsc, and trac off l would assume you can possibly have a computer issue/malfunction. It can be this computer issue causing your xb to hesitate when starting.

there are many reasons such as leaving gas cap off and starting. Get hooked to diag machine and find out.

All of those lights are on in my 05 xB too! My best friends did it also in her 05 xB. Go to the dealer and ask them to reset the lights. It is a common problem in the xB.
