Release Series. The 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 refer to the version in the series, much like in software, and that is exactly the connection they wanted to make.
Each one is done in a limited run with a color that will not be repeated, with it is own unique number in the run, and each series also has an equipment package exclusive to that run, usually with at least a few items that you can only get on that run.
